Our Fallen nature — Our Fallen human nature assumes change is an imposition that requires us to do or be different, which takes us out of our comfort zone. When Christians live by their Fallen human nature, they tend to resist change because it feels to them that it is not safe to change.
Christians hear Bible teaching on “repentance” (which is a complete change of perspective), but cannot willingly abandon the status quo without weighing the consequences—which also implies that they are looking for some control over the consequences (instead of trusting that God will be powerfully working for their benefit). |
Coach: Ask your student to read out-loud the text on the left here and then ask them to tell you which parts of this makes sense and why, and if any parts do not seem right, and why.
(NOTE TO COACH: Remember, be careful NOT to correct or even comment on your student's answers, except to say "What else?" if their answer is too brief.) |
