Satisfaction — What does it mean for us to have control over our feelings? Human beings often seek self-control through either attempting to limit or relieve the physical responses of their body (through drugs, exercise, etc.), or through repressing and ignoring their feelings. But these are actually just attempts to satisfy (or repress) our natural physical responses, which by itself, is temporary and ultimately futile (disappointing). The more fulfilling and lasting solution is for our soul to be satisfied and directed by a growing intimacy with God.
In this coaching exercise we will explore some thoughts related to how a Christian might pursue dealing with their feelings from a Kingdom perspective. |
Coach: Ask your student to read out-loud the text on the left here and then ask them to tell you which parts of this makes sense and why, and if any parts do not seem right, and why.
(NOTE TO COACH: Remember, be careful NOT to correct or even comment on your student's answers, except to say "What else?" if their answer is too brief.) |
