Our Fallen nature — Our Fallen nature assumes that success is the pursuit of happiness, which is usually found in personal physical fulfillment, and in the positive impact we have on others in this world. When a Christian follows their natural tendency (Fallen nature tendency) to focus on pursuing and producing things (even “good” things), their soul is never fully satisfied because that pursuit never ends. The Christian operating from their Fallen human nature continually attempts to create outcomes that match this idea of success. Although the Christian may acknowledge the Sovereignty of God, there remains deep down an illusion of personal control, which always results in an experience of futility.

Coach: Ask your student to read out-loud the text on the left here and then ask them to tell you which parts of this makes sense and why, and if any parts do not seem right, and why.
(NOTE TO COACH: Remember, be careful NOT to correct or even comment on your student's answers, except to say "What else?" if their answer is too brief.) |
